Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the journal will be initially reviewed by the editorial staff and will then be sent to at least two external referees. The author may suggest reviewers for the manuscript.

Reviewers will pay particular attention to novelty, clarity, scientific accuracy, relevance, and importance of the manuscript as well as to the quality of illustrations. Dermatology Practical & Conceptual conducts anonymous and blinded peer reviews.

First decisions upon acceptance of manuscripts will by made by the Section Editors based on the recommendation of the reviewers. First decisions usually will be made within 3-5 weeks but longer delays may occur. Four decisions are possible: (1) accept, (2) minor revisions, (3) major revisions, and (4) reject. If there is major disagreement between the two reviewers, a third reviewer is asked to assess the manuscript under consideration as well as the reviews of the other two referees. It is the policy of the journal to offer fast and fair reviews.
